Chris Masters jobs to Evan Bourne.
Masters can be happy with the fact that he has a job once again in the same company that thought he was legit. Thanks to Randy Orton of course. But that's beside the point. The fact that Masters has rejoined the Raw brand gives guys like Bourne someone to beat that is not only credible because of already being an established man, but also because the size and strength of Masters goes without saying and anyone that can get a 3-count with someone of that caliber gains in reputation. Bourne continues to be a hit with the fans and continues to climb within the ranks of the WWE.
William Regal and his court make the Californian-bred Reks' tap out.
Is what the name of this section should've been called. Instead, we have "Rookie goes toe-to-toe with the number one contender." Now, don't get me wrong this match wasn't anything special. It was the fact that Tyler Reks was able to carry himself throughout the match with a skilled in-ring veteran. Regal dominated of course but it was the way he nit picked at Reks' offense (when he got some in) that showed how intelligent this man is. With the backing of Kozlov and Jackson he's a force to be reckon with. And the Summer Slam match with Christian was a joke because this feud had just started. Giving Christian the long fought victory would discredit William Regal and that's not what the WWE are trying to do with this new stable. Regal has always been a major threat to ANY title (regardless of the fact that he won't win the big one he was still a viable contender; why else would Vince put him in the '98 Deadly Games tournament?) and because the feud was so young he benefited from losing at Summer Slam. He regained his heat with the beat down that followed and showed how legit he is by defeating Christian in a non-title match. Now at Breaking Point we'll be able to witness a true classic bout between these two gifted men.
The Hart Dynasty v. Cryme Tyme and Eve
It's amazing to think that one of the best working women in the industry is hardly, if ever, used as an actual wrestler. She need not be mad though as she is the catalyst that makes The Hart Dynasty works. She is the mouthpiece that Jimmy Hart was to the Hart Foundation. Now, tuning into this past week's Superstars we get a chance to see her actually get down and dirty in the ring in a six-person tag team match.
Cryme Tyme has had one of the hottest programs recently against the Tag Champs. They failed to garner gold though put on one helluva performance to show that these guys were truly ready to take on the role of THE tag team in the WWE. A title that once belonged to the likes of: The New Age Outlaws, The World's Greatest Tag Team, MNM, and even Mizzorrison. What drags them down, I think, is the fact that the WWE really is focused more on nurturing JTG for his singles run. JTG can easily shine big in the WWE as either an IC or US champion (just ask Johnny Nitro, he's done it... oh wait no I mean John Morrison). This past years Rumble when JTG was the sole representative of Cryme Tyme and the fact that he had a huge role in the Rumble in terms of big spots goes to show how much they invest in him. Because of this and this only leads me to believe that Shad has been holding JTG back of capturing gold in the WWE. The tag titles should have and could have been dropped to Cryme Tyme back when Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch had them. Now the time has passed. We're gearing towards splitting up Cryme Tyme and letting JTG blossom. Time will tell, but I believe that Summer Slam's loss for Cryme Tyme meant the end of the tag team that could have been and the beginning of a man that could be.
The Hart Dynasty has been the best built up tag team in recent memory. They've slowly grown out of ECW and now arrived on Smackdown with the purpose of winning tag team gold. They've been given countless number of matches against Cryme Tyme and it works every time because like tonight they can mix it up with a 6 person tag match. Though, the lack of other teams to actually BEAT and prove themselves to be contenders are limited. On ECW, they could have been defeating the likes of Tyler Reks and Yoshi Tatsu. Regardless of the fact, their slow build will pay dividends. I can see the faction finally capturing Tag Team gold either by the end of '09 or the early start of '10. In the meantime they're working men and because of that they will team and fight Cryme Tyme 100 nights out of the year if they must. Besides, Natalya can always get herself into the mix of things and carry them in storyline hat moves them closer to the titles as well.
Natalys pins Eve to win the match.
