RTC & SES

**Note: This entry stemmed from a response to a Message Board thread entitled "SES's Potential for Greatest Stable Ever? - by The Future"

First, Right To Censor (RTC) was a great stable. Future you said "... to me, a stable is the sum of its parts to make a whole," with that I feel as if Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather were a great enforcer-esque tag team that wanted to also censor their ways of mistreatment of women and their corruption of the law (it's as close a definition you can get to with Bull Buchanan - who really had no other explanation as to why he joined RTC, but he was teamed with Big Bossman so I just ran with it. Anyway,) their wrestling ability and chemistry as a teamed proved them to be worthy as Tag Team Champions and with that it added credibility to RTC's status as a dominant Heel Stable. Every stable needs a mouthpiece, Steven Richards was to RTC that mouthpiece and he is in every way similar to what CM Punk is to the Straight Edge Society - their fearful leader. Later Val Venis censored his womanizing ways and Ivory gave up on giving the fans the T&A the other Divas were. Both the latter members of RTC gave Steven Richards more chance to share the mic as both workers did a great job of helping Richards promote their movement. The titles all - but Stevie - had won put them above stables like 3 Count and The Jung Dragons as a poster mentioned. To me the fact that each and every member had the ability to tell their own wrestling story which led them to winning championships gave the RTC a much higher ranking than most lead to believe - and certainly at this point higher than where the Straight Edge Society is.

After this past Sunday's Royal Rumble performance by CM Punk and his preaching the Straight Edge lifestyle it goes to show that the WWE are really high on how far Punk has taken his new persona to the next level - beard and all. I agree that Knox would be a good fit, however, I too would say that Punk's beard should not be overshadowed by "Fort Knox" (<- good one by the way!). The WWE gave a mass surmount of time to let Punk generate his heat (even though almost everyone live - including me - were chanting "CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK!").

This stable has gotten off on the right foot. The Luke Gallows character is great for the Straight Edge Society because Festus did have a surefire "in" that pushed further the message that Punk is trying to impose on the WWE [Universe]. I am really enjoying seeing Punk get himself over with this angle. I agree that this is the best we've seen Punk since he's joined the WWE - and the reasoning behind this is because CM Punk has character! Before CM Punk was just the "Straight Edge Superstar" doing the good things and waiting to be rewarded. When he cashed in his MITB title shot and beat Jeff Hardy the fans turned on him - he didn't turn on the fans! Because of this CM Punk began to do what he wanted since the WWE fans were no longer backing him (well the marks that is). Punk has now been able to generate heat in the form of working the stick and get himself a good following (Luke Gallows and Serena) that want to help preach the good word and the Straight Edge lifestyle.

It is because of this transformation within CM Punk that the stable has been able to pick up steam and be given the chance to really stand out as being a top heel stable. Like Paul Heyman once said one of the best things the WWE did last year was "put CM Punk in play". CM Punk did fall off track for a while after he dropped the title to Undertaker and disappeared from the main event scene. But, this new life in his character has given him the chance to step up to the plate - with a backing - to prove once again why the Straight Edge Superstar is not one to be taken lightly. I admit at first I was never that big of a CM Punk fan; but, that all changed when CM Punk was given the chance to win the World Championship from Jeff Hardy. Punk's ability to work the mic and work a wrestling match gives him the chance to have a stable that can go far within the company. They're still a long shot from "greatest stable" but do have the capability of surpassing RTC - once they crown themselves with more gold than just a Slammy Award. That is why I'm pulling for the Straight Edge Society to become Tag Team Champions as it would be a great way to further push this really hot heel stable.
