My King of the Ring Thoughts

With 1 Heel and 3 Faces already qualifying that means 3 heels and 1 face will advance from Smackdown.

Rey Mysterio and Big Show have just won two big Smackdown matches in a row - battle royal and survivor series - they won't advance. Instantly, Del Rio advances since he's facing Big Show.

Now that leaves MVP & Kofi Kingston. Coming off of Survivor Series it seems fitting Drew McIntyre faces MVP and again beats him again. McIntyre in, MVP out, thus the last face Kingston advances.

This leaves Cody Rhodes or Jack Swagger as the last heel. Again, coming off of Survivor Series it seems fitting that Swagger will be the one to lay down as Cody Rhodes "performance" at Survivor Series advanced him to KOTR. Swagger out and Rhodes in.

That leaves 8: Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Ezekial Jackson, John Morrison, Daniel Bryan, and Kofi Kingston.

At Survivor Series, Del Rio never officially lost his match - he was TKO'd. This says something - no one on smackdown was able to beat him and having to go through Big Show says he'll knock off a top face in the first round - Daniel Bryan. He's already the US champion, a Crown won't do nothing for him.

John Morrison's huge upset over Sheamus says that he'll move onto the Semi's, but which former tag team champion does he beat? The Dashing One or the more aggressive McIntyre? I think Rhodes' style may fit Morrison better so I say the former.

This leaves McIntyre and Sheamus against Kofi & Jackson. I think that Sheamus and Kofi mix it up and McIntyre and Jackson go at it. McIntyre looks fierce standing behind Del Rio during their team promo at Survivor Series and McIntyre was the last man eliminated from his team, so because of his strong showing at Survivor Series Drew McIntyre will knock off the red hot Ezekial Jackson.

With my earlier prediction of Del Rio winning over Bryan it only goes to show that Kofi Kingston will upset Sheamus to advance to the Semi's to loose to Del Rio. A Sheamus victory and obvious storyline choice to set up Triple H would be good, but is unnecessary. Sheamus can go into another grudge match with John Morrison at TLC as they set up Triple H's return.

This leaves 4: Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, and Drew McIntyre.

I still think Morrison's upset over Sheamus shot him straight through to the finals of th KOTR and the teleplay during the night will be the fact that John Morrison went through former Tag Team champions to make it to the finals.

With the face in the finals it's only obvious and clear that a heel will oppose him and who better than Alberto Del Rio.

The Finals sees John Morrison against Alberto Del Rio. Tough call, Sheamus upser wins says Morrison wins it but the King of the Ring gimmick is better suited for heels.

My money is on Alberto Del Rio.

Extreme Rules Predictions

Here are my Extreme Rules Predictions:

With the draft looming these matches are all up in the air as to who
will win. Everything gets shaken up tomorrow and it'll be an
interesting thing to watch.

The Strap Match
JTG v. Shad
Recently, JTG has yet to get much offense against Shad Gaspard and
this sunday Shad will show why he left Cryme Tyme. Unlike many, I do
not believe that JTG will be released. If anything, JTG is the talent
in Cryme Tyme; thus, Shad is getting the huge push to get him over.
Shad wins and gets drafted to Raw (more on that later).
Winner: Shad

Extreme Makover Match
WWE Women's Championship Match
Michelle McCool (c) v. Beth Phoenix
With the shocking release of Mickie James this matched looked to have
Simply Flawless come out on top. The wildcard is Vickie Guerrero as
the real feud seems to be between Phoenix and Guerrero and not McCool.
However, with the odds stacked against her I still think Phoenix will
take back the WWE Women's Championship heading into the Draft.
WInner and new Women's champion: Beth Phoenix

Punk's Hair on the Line
Rey Mysterio v. CM Punk
Mysterio won at Wrestlemania to not join the Straightedge Society. I
expect to see CM Punk come out on top and then being drafted to Raw
along with this followers. Also, I expect a rematch between the two on
Monday night.
Winner: CM Punk

Street Fight
Sheamus v. Triple H
All signs seems to point towards a Sheamus victory - well since he
needs a clean win - but I still do not see that happening as I see The
Game putting a stop to anyone that challenges him for his top spot on
the card.
Winner: Triple H

Steel Cage Match
Edge v. Chris Jericho
With Jericho winning at Wrestlemania and the title not on the line
here I think Edge gets his retribution and wins. Though, this will not
be the end of this feud as both will continue to battle it out to take
on the World Champion.
Winner: Edge

World Heavyweight Champion
Jack Swagger (c) v. Randy Orton
Jack Swagger has been built up as a weak champion since he's lost to
every person he's had to face - with the exception of Jericho/Edge.
His first win will come at the hands of Randy Orton, similarly to how
Sheamus beat Orton at the Royal Rumble in his first PPV title defense.
Orton seems to be putting over the young guys this year and will
continue to do so as he knows he'll regain control of the WWE later in
the year. I think Swagger pulls off the upset and keeps his title. I
also think Randy Orton turns Blue and continues to battle with Swagger
on Friday nights.
Winner: Jack Swagger

WWE Championship
Batista v. John Cena (c)
With the reports of Batista leaving the WWE it is obvious that John
Cena will end the night with a hard fought victory over Batista.
Enough said - a new #1 contender for Cena's title will emerge tomorrow
night during the draft.... CM Punk anyone?
Winner: John Cena

WWE Raw Review 4/12/10

The Guest Hosts on Raw have been hit or miss and last night's Guest Host was one to remember. The Hoff - David Hasselhoff - hosted Raw emanating from the good old United Kingdom. Here, the WWE Universe never lets up and truly show their distaste towards the WWE if they do not like something - The Hoff was over in England. Right off the bat The Hoff makes some huge announcements regarding Raw and Extreme Rules. First, a Baywatch Triple Threat tag team match for Raw. Second, Randy Orton challenges Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight Championship (whoa!) at Extreme Rules. Finally, Randy Orton battles Batista in the main event. The huge news that comes out of this segment is the fact that Randy Orton will be facing Jack Swagger. This rises some questions and makes everyone want to tune into Smackdown - why don't Edge and Chris Jericho, or the entire Smackdown brand for that matter, have a chance to earn the #1 Contendership again? One answer would be to have Edge and Chris Jericho battle for that coveted title shot at the pay-per-view itself in order to increase buys. Or will Chris Jericho and Edge find their way into the Extreme Rules title match? We shall see this Friday.

After a huge shocking announcement the WWE gives us a shocking title change. The Divas Champion Maryse is dethroned by Diva Search winner, Eve Torres. Eve, entering her third year with the company, gets her first taste of WWE championship after catching the new Blonde Bombshell with a roll-up after blocking the French Kiss DDT. Maryse's charisma is what gave her the Divas Championship. Her lackluster performance in the ring since her return was what caused her the championship to one of the up and coming Divas. This reign may only be for a week or two with the Draft looming the potential of a Smackdown Diva coming over to capture the title is very high.

One of the greatest tag teams in the PG era, Showmiz have had one helluva year. The Big Show has been 1/2 of the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions for a total of 7 months. While The Miz can proclaim that he is the first ever U.S & Unified Tag Team Champion in the history of the WWE. Both men will go their separate ways come draft time, methinks, so it's interesting to see who the WWE decides to give the Tag Titles to next. Miz gets mic time with the legendary Bret Hart. This pairing is great for The Miz because the purpose of the story is to get The Hart Dynasty a tag title shot; however, it is also giving The Miz face time with a WWE Hall of Famer. And according to the British WWE Universe they are responding to The Miz in a great way - which leads me to believe The Miz may be winning his first World Title as a face... that's neither here nor there. Moving on. The Miz defeats David Hart Smith, with Big Show's help, and because of this Bret Hart will have to proclaim Showmiz as the greatest tag team in WWE history.

David Otunga continues to get a leg up on the competition on NXT by again being featured on WWE's flagship show, Raw. Otunga gets face time with Batista - who orders Otunga to get coffee - and we also are informed that Otunga will battle the WWE Champion John Cena. The WWE have high hopes for this man because of his tie in with Jennifer Hudson and the entertainment world. A match with the top star in the company definitely helps elevate superstars - ask The Miz. The Miz has more experience in wrestling than Otunga, however.

The WWE Universe are next entertained by what many people watch the World Wrestling Entertainment for, an actual wrestling match. No gimmick, no hatred, no backstory just a simple one-on-one match for the crowd's, and television audience's, enjoyment. Evan Bourne goes over Carlito via the Airbourne Shooting Star Press. England gets a treat from the WWE in the form of an aerial maneuver - something everyone can take home with them in picture form. Also, we see Carlito's role of jobber continue. Carlito is in need of a change. Interesting night for Carlito though - that to come later.

John Cena defeats David Otunga in another wrestling match via submission. David Otunga is taken to school by John Cena - who knew John Cena knew how to wrestle? Interesting to see him hardly ever employ his mat wrestling ability in any other match he is involved in. Cena takes care of Otunga to regain his heat from last week - as if he really lost much for crying out loud. Nonetheless, it also gives him an extra advantage over his feud with Batista seeing as how he did just defeat Batista's coffee-boy. Batista gets his heat back for the night by cutting a promo on John Cena about how he will take care of him on his time and not on the WWE Universe's time. This feud continues to heat up and it gets better each and every week. Their match at Extreme Rules will not be their last meeting.

Sheamus is the next man to take center stage and continue his feud against The Game Triple H. To Sheamus' advantage since his debut the WWE has been confident enough to let Sheamus get over by cutting promo's. A champion can only really get over if he has the mouthpiece to back up what he does in a ring. Sheamus has proven that but what he lacks is a clean victory over a top WWE star. Wrestlemania was the chance to let the young talent go over but Triple H came out on top. This match will continue to let Sheamus have another feud with another top talent to get him more over. My guess would be that Sheamus will be headed to the blue brand and finally win against a Phenom. Kofi Kingston makes his way out to the ring and challenge Sheamus in Hunter's absence - sources claim that he is heeling a neck injury*, yikes! Instead of jobbing out Kingston tonight we get a solid wrestling match between the two superstars; and, even a Kofi Kingston victory, by disqualification of course. Sheamus takes out Kofi after the match further proving that Kofi Kingston's shooting star is slowly fading.

Carlito and Vladimir Kozlov have a short segment in the back complaining about not getting enough air time and the fault of that being the WWE Guest Hosts. Carlito shows his frustration stating that he wants to be traded to Smackdown. This brings up something, well to me, big in that a WWE Superstar is verbally wanting to trade shows. What brings more attention to this is Carlito's recent use as of late and the fact that Carlito has been known to lack in commitment in wanting to improve his status within the WWE. This can either lead to Carlito being traded to Smackdown and try to once again establish himself as a contender for the Intercontinental Championship or it can lead to the continuation of using Carlito as a veteran star that new guys can use to get themselves over - like Evan Bourne earlier in the night.

Our Guest Host, The Hoff, hosts the Baywatch Triple Threat match. The WWE Superstars associated with this segment give way to the fact that their only reason to be on Raw is to share the spotlight of the Guest Host - which is both to their advantage and not because they do get TV time but they do not get a story that can draw fans to them and make them give a damn. Among them are Gail Kim and Santino Marella, two WWE Superstars that deserve to have a continuous chance to actually wrestle and tell a story. Both wrestlers I'm sure are satisfied with the role they are given - TV time with celebrities. Kelly Kelly, The Bella Twins, Jillian Hall, Eve Mendes, and Hornswoggle will have to just accept the fact that they are given this time only to highlight the Guest Host's appearance on the WWE's flagship show.

The Main Event of Raw featured the two #1 contenders for the respective World titles square off. It's great to witness a match that has been done over and over with the roles reversed this time around. Randy Orton plays the role of face while Batista plays the self-absorbed role of heel this time around. We're given an excellent match between two of WWE's top stars all in hype for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. The match ends in a no-contest, in true WWE fashion. Though, I give props to the WWE because Jack Swagger has lost heat twice in a row by loosing to Randy Orton and tonight he regained his 'swagger' by hitting a weakened Orton with the Gut Wrench Powerbomb. Ending Raw with the World Heavyweight Champion standing tall would have been a good way for Swagger to regain all his lost heat - but John Cena was not one to be outdone as he too came out and not only laid out the Blue Brand's champion; but, he made The Animal tap out to the STF. Things continue to intensify between the two and their Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules will crank their feud up to eleven!

Overall the show was solid in that it featured wrestling matches sans the throw away triple threat bout. Even the one-on-one encounter between Evan Bourne and Carlito entertained the audience. The London crowd are always vocal and really let the WWE know what works and what doesn't. As a matter of fact, all non-US audiences are like that. Maybe we're spoiled? Anyway, a great show to continue the build to Extreme Rules and the close approaching WWE Draft on April 26 - the night after Extreme Rules!

Overall Show: A-

The Miz as Champion?

In response to a thread posted here ->  The Miz a Champion?

I think The Miz has been given the greenlight to step his game up because the WWE does see a lot in this young man - despite where he came from. I actually think it is because where he came from that the WWE have more confidence in him than with John Morrison because The Miz had to have personality on the Real World circuit to continue to get on shows like the Challenges and what not. The Miz has solely elevated himself from a low midcarder to a midcarder with ease - special thanks to John Cena. John Morrison stepped his game up by wrestling the hell out of Edge, Punk, and Jeff Hardy amongst some. He was elevated thanks to a brawl with Chris Jericho.

The Miz is 5-4 at PPV's while John Morrison is 2-5 since they split (excluding the Royal Rumble match). What does that tell you?

The WWE is a continuous novel with similar themes played throughout; it takes meticulous reading of everything presented on-air to fully grasp the concepts at work and the direction a superstar is headed. The Miz is headed to the Upper Midcard/Main Event with the likes of Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Kane, and Rey Mysterio to name a few.

btw, I'm not bashing John Morrison, I actually like John Morrison - I'm just pointing out to the Morrison S/Marks that he is not going to be given the World Championship before The Miz is. And to answer the question, finally, yes The Miz will be a World Champion within the WWE, quote me!

Wrestlemania Review

1. Tag Team Match
Great opener. The Big Show proved to be the x-factor of the match. The Miz continues to score by increasing the number of Pay-per-view wins he's accumulated since Bragging Rights to 5 - Morrison has an 0-6 record going since his loss to Miz at Bragging Rights. Though Miz did not get the pinfall victory, he has a new entrance ring coat to go with his continued success as the Unified Tag Team and United States Champion. Great way to start off a hot pay-per-view.

2. Legacy
I knew Randy Orton would win but I wanted Cody Rhodes to walk out the winner with Orton giving him the punt to the head afterwards. Interesting to see where they go with this storyline. I said this one has everyone scratching their heads.

3. MITB
The shocker of the night Jack Swagger does the unthinkable, wins the golden (read: black) briefcase. I knew Swagger's commentary work proved Swagger was the star to watch going into the event. Matt Hardy's inability to unhook the briefcase - albeit unexpectedly - carried over into the final moments of the match storyline wise as Jack Swagger struggled also; but, he was finally able to get his hands on the guaranteed contract. Great to see the WWE not give up on Swagger. I thought Swagger was a great choice to be the one to walk out with the briefcase. Christian and McIntyre will be fighting each other soon enough. Everyone else is going back into obscurity in shuffling around each other for a spot on the next couple pay-per-views.

4. Triple H v Sheamus
Michael Cole kept selling the idea that even though Sheamus lost he proved his worthy as a main event superstar because of the match he had with Triple H. What I saw was Triple H become superhuman in one second and overpower Sheamus. This would have been a great thing to see a Rookie go over a Pro to promote a certain brand. Sheamus deserves a clean victory over a top star - perhaps Undertaker will lay for the Celtic Warrior?

5. CM Punk v. Rey Mysterio
Really fun back-and-forth match. I thought a Mysterio joining the Society would have been a good storyline to continue this feud. Now, we shall see if these two will continue to perform against each other with the next live events or not. Great use of the society members to help Mysterio win. Even though I wanted Punk, Mysterio did a good job.

6. Bret Hart v. Vince McMahon
I figured this match would be a squash. McMahon paid off every Hart Family member to beat his @$$. As soon as Bret got on the mic a swerve was to come. Great to see Vince let things go for the good of business. Fans ate it up and loved to see Bret Hart get his hands on Vince McMahon. The ending was predictable - the sharpshooter finish - but how they got there was interesting and something that gave closure to the Montreal Screwjob of 1997.

7. Chris Jericho v. Edge
I CALLED IT! I knew Chris Jericho was going to walk out of Wrestlemania XXVI with the World Heavyweight Championship intact. The Rated R Superstar and the Highlight Reel himself, Chris Jericho, put on one helluva match and did a great job in getting the crowd back into the action after the sour taste Bret Hart/Vince McMahon left behind. Edge was on point tonight - not to say Jericho wasn't - Edge seemed more determined and focused. Jericho's relaxed approach to the match showed as he became frustrated at the fact that Edge would not stay down. Once the referee was down for some time Jericho took advantage knocking Edge out with the World title and connecting with the Codebreaker, finally Jericho was able to celebrate - at a price, however. Edge's final spear on Chris Jericho was off the announcer's table and onto the barricade. Though the right man won, the other got the last laugh. Can't wait for the continuation of this feud.

8. Michelle McCool, Layla, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Vickie Guerrero v. Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, and Beth Phoenix.
I predicted that Vickie Guerrero would make her way into the spotlight and she did - paying homage to her deceased husband, the late Eddie Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero connected with a frog splash off the top rope and pinned Kelly Kelly. Guerrero has been one of the best heels the company has produced, because of this she gets the honor of winning it or her team athe the biggest stage. The rest of the Divas got a time to shine as they each hit their patented maneuvers on each other. The story's focus was on Pheonix and Simply Flawless. Look for Phoenix & Mickie James to team up against the Flawless ones.

9. John Cena v. Batista
The battle of the giants. Batista got the victory in the Summer and John Cena got the victory in the Spring. Their 1-1 and it was only right for John Cena to win at Wrestlemania since the entire time leading up to the event Batista has had the upperhand. And we all know when Cena is in a story where he has to overcome the odds - he does. So, this was predictable but it should continue the feud.

10. The Streak v. The Career
I'm a fan of both men and enjoy both their works. Though, the streak must never end. Shawn Michaels has had one heck of a career and I loved seeing it all go down. Thank you Shawn Michaels for a great ride and for putting on another great Wrestlemania match. Though, I think the 1st was still better - and that's not being biased because I was there live!

Overall Show: B+

Great hype for a pay-per-view that paid off. Great surprise victories for Showmiz, Jack Swagger, and even Vickie Guerrero. Still trying to figure out the Legacy storyline and where Sheamus will go. The final 6 men of the night did their best in winding down the latter part of an overall solid show. Can't wait for Raw. The next thing we have to look forward to is going to be the WWE Draft.

Prediction Record (5-5)
Correct: Undertaker, John Cena, Bret Hart, Showmiz, Chris Jericho
Wrong: Heel Divas, Jack Swagger, Triple H, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio

Wrestlemania Predictions

Also, I wrote them in the order I think they will be placed on the card. The Raw review and Smackdown reviews from the past two weeks I never finished. So, instead of filling this up with like 3 entries I'd rather just write one and here it is: My Wrestlemania XXVI predictions. Enjoy.

1. Money In The Bank
So, first lets eliminate all the fillers in the match that aren't winning. Matt Hardy, Kane, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, and Dolph Ziggler. That leaves MVP, Kofi Kingston, Drew McIntyre, Christian, and Jack Swagger as the top 5 candidates to win the contract. Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre's last minute addition to the match seem a bit odd and also makes me lower their odds of winning. MVP was given a program against The Miz to reclaim the US title to hold him off until tonight's match. MVP jobbed to the Miz all the time and maybe his reward is a briefcase? Jack Swagger was given the easiest contracted opponent to qualify, Santino Marella. Also, he was given a chance to put himself over on Raw with a guest commentary gig. He didn't fair to well and may have hurt his chances of being picked the winner. That leaves Christian. Everyone thought he would return at the Royal Rumble last year but he didn't. Then, everyone thought he would win this match last year, but he didn't. Now, everyone expects him to win the briefcase this time around - and I think he will. The finish to the 10 man tag this past friday on Smackdown makes me think Christian and McIntyre will work a program after the draft for both the briefcase and IC title.
Winner: Christian

2. Legacy Triple Threat
This match is one that has lots of people scratching their heads. The question remains, who will turn face: Randy Orton or Ted Dibiase? I've repeatedly stated that this will all be determined as to who Cody Rhodes sides with as he is the true x-factor in terms of where this storyline goes. Having Orton destroy these two men will kill any heat they have garnered over their time with Orton. Having Legacy destroy Orton will kill any heat Orton has going for him. What is the solution? Legacy double team Randy Orton until they both want to be the one that pins Orton. Legacy battle it out where Rhodes gets the upper hand. Orton jumps back into the match and helps Rhodes out. After an RKO on Dibiase, Rhodes hits the Crossroads on Orton and pins Dibiase for the surprise win.
Winner: Cody Rhodes

3. CM Punk v. Rey Mysterio
This storyline will be on the same level Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio's was last year. Their series of battles for the Intercontinental Championship gave that title some missing prestige. This time around Mysterio enters Mania against the leader of the Straightedge Society. A perfect way to continue this storyline is by having Punk do the unthinkable, win and force Mysterio to be a part of the Society. Mysterio will eventually disobey his fearless leader and set up a rematch in which Mysterio will have to put his mask on the line if he wants to win his freedom from Punk's society. This feud has just started to pick up lots of heat and it'll be a waste to have Mysterio win the match and kill the momentum. Mysterio being a part of the Society gives the WWE something in which it will have viewers tune in to see how the newest member of the Straightedge Society handles his new role.
Winner: CM Punk

4. Triple H v. Sheamus
From the time that Triple H made reference to his Wrestlemania XII debut, I had a feeling that he would be putting Sheamus over. Triple H has nothing to prove in this match other than being able to end anything anyone is trying to start. But why write this match off just like that? Sheamus is out to prove that he was not a paper champion. He has been written that way but a clean win at Wrestlemania would elevate the Celtic Warrior into a legitimate threat to anyone on the roster. Also, Sheamus (the rookie) going over a veteran like Hunter (the pro) would be a great way to promote NXT and the WWE's new incentive of putting the young guys over (which also leads me to believe that McIntyre may actually win MITB and not Christian). I think this is where Sheamus steps up his A-game and finally gets a pinfall victory over another top WWE star. Besides, Triple H can destroy Sheamus and get his heat back on the next PPV.
Winner: Sheamus.

5. Bret Hart v. Vince McMahon
This match has had a 13-year build up to it and will be this years shortest match. I do not see this match going beyond 15 minutes as we're talking about Bret Hart coming back to wrestle. If Bret Hart can do it, thank you bret!!; however, it does not seem likely he will. With that said, Bret's payday will come in the form of McMahon either passing out to the sharpshooter - alá Stone Cold - or just tapping out to the sharpshooter for Bret's final (maybe) in-ring victory in the WWE.
Winner: Bret Hart

6. Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James v. Michelle McCool, Maryse, Vickie Guerrero, Layla, Alicia Fox
The face Divas go over. This will be the cool down period after everyone has gotten their rocks off at the fact that Bret Hart was just wrestling. This also leads into another high profiled match and finally the main events. This storyline's focus is on Beth Phoenix and Vickie Guerrero. Mickie James does make her return - which means a triple threat looms between James, McCool, and Phoenix. Guerrero though will excuse her way into the spotlight this night by falling prey to the Phoenix.
Winners: Face Divas (Beth Phoenix)

7. Showmiz v. R-Truth & John Morrison
During this match the storyline to look at is not the Unified Tag Team Championship, nor the Tag Team feud that has been going on as of late. The story lies between the former World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison & The Miz. The pattern as of late has seen The Miz gain a victory at consecutive pay-per-views since the Rumble. Even before then Morrison has been on the loosing end, though being showcased under brighter lights. Miz's team won at Survivor Series over Morrison. Morrison lost his IC title at TLC, Miz was not on the card. At the Rumble, Miz scored a pinfall victory while not lasting more than a minute in the actual match itself. Morrison on the other hand was given ample time with a bunch of future stars. At the Elimination Chamber, Miz got a victory over MVP again and Morrison lasted until the final 3 in the main event Chamber match. This tag team feud has the right amount of credibility to have these four man battle it out until after the draft, but who gets the Wrestlemania victory? The Miz - the man who has gone 3-0 in single matches? Or, John Morrison - the man that has been getting plenty of Main Event rubs while going 0-3 in the matches he's been featured in. Morrison is the Friday Night Delight, not the Sunday Night Delight. Miz has the Big Show - kayfabe wise this is more an advantage than Truth with Morrison. In the long run, the man that has the tougher road to get to where he is at will be the one with his first Wrestlemania victory.
Winner: Showmiz

8. Chris Jericho v. Edge
The men that were supposed to dominate the Tag Team division for the past year will be headlining Wrestlemania - well they'll be featured as one of the main events but the headlining will belong to John Cena & Batista - I hope not, it's just what I think will happen. These two have been going back and forth for some time now. How will this feud turn out? No one knows yet but what I do know is that having this feud end tonight will not give it justice. These two men are great athletes in the ring and can for sure steal the show - hard to call since there are so many great matchups that can lay claim to that as well, we'll just have to wait and see. But, having Edge return and win the Royal Rumble almost guaranteed his victory at Wrestlemania. Enter Chris Jericho, the man that since returning to the WWE has been at the peak of his career. Do you reward Edge for missing 6 months of action with a Wrestlemania victory - he deserves it after stealing the show at Mania XXIV (yes, I believe Edge/Taker was way better than HBK/Flair)? Or, do you award a man that has transformed himself into one of the most hated men in professional wrestling? Tough call as both of these men represent what is left from the attitude days in terms of mid-carders turned main eventers. Both of these men have walked into the main even of Wrestlemania and have lost their championships. Tonight, I think Chris Jericho's Wrestlemania moment is etched in history with his cheating victory over Edge tonight.
Winner: Chris Jericho

9. Shawn Michaels v. The Undertaker
This is the other most anticipated rematch on the card tonight. Will we see the end of Undertaker's undefeated streak or will HBK's career be laid to rest? No matter who Undertaker faces, the streak will never end. With that said, HBK will retire officially tomorrow night on Raw but tonight he gets his final match against The Phenom. Thank you Shawn Michaels.
Winner: The Undertaker

10. Batista v. John Cena
One of the most anticipated rematches on tonight's card comes in the form of the two stars that have defined the post-Attitude era. The Animal and The Champ will square off no the grandest stage of them all. The last time these two fought Batista shined more and that was when he was a face (what does that tell you about John Cena? -- maybe nothing). But, this time we have a full fledge heel, a world title up for grabs, and we have the sueprbowl of wrestling as the platform where these two men will throw it down. The story has been set: Batista can destroy John Cena - as has been the case for the past month or so. The story will be defined at Wrestlemania - look for WWE's golden boy to overcome all the odds (I'm really getting tired of this story for him too) and win the WWE Championship again. This doesn't end the feud, however. Look for Batista to recapture the title at Over the Limit or whatever the next pay-per-view is.
Winner: John Cena

UPDATES!

I went to RAW last Monday with special host Steve Austin, that was really fun. The kids sitting in front of me were fun to mess around with. Live crowds are so much better than sitting at home watching TV by yourself, sad I know. Whatevs. Anway, I have a review I have been meaning to write up regarding last week but instead I'm going to combine it with this weeks Raw since they both were mediocre at best (and still get better ratings than TNA!) but served their function of hyping up the Super Bowl of wrestling.

Also, I'm working on a double Smackdown review with this past week's Smackdown and this week's coming up. That should be done (hopefully) Friday night if not Saturday.

Finally, my Wrestlemania predictions and thoughts will be up Saturday/Sunday but before the PPV. So I can see how I did.

Wrestlemania review will be up a week from Sunday. I missed the Elimination Chamber review but thought that was a well executed event.

CM Punk finishes off Aaliyah's birthday song and points out that he notices Mysterio's fear. Punk assures Mysterio that he is not there to hurt his family and is happy that Mysterio's family can be together with Punk's family. Punk challenges Mysterio to a match at Wrestlemania; however, he would also like a match...right now. Punk directs his attention to each one of Mysterio's family members to psyche Mysterio out. Punk calls Mysterio a coward in front of everyone. Punk questions Mysterio's masculinity and even drops to his knees to be at Mysterio's height. Mysterio gets slapped and instead of defending himself he leaves with his family. Punk tells the WWE Universe to look at their hero. BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: BIG SHOW WALKS TO RING

1/2 WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show makes his entrance followed by "The Guru of Greatness" John Morrison

Big Show v. John Morrison

Big Show dominates John Morrison throughout the match due to his larger size. It is not until Morrison is able to kick away at the Big Show to keep him at bay. Morrison comes off the ropes with a missile dropkick to knock the big man down to the mat. After a two count, Morrison comes off the ropes and whacks Big Show in the face with a knee-to-the-face. However, Morrison small stature was no match for the Big Show as Show takes the win for his team and evens the score for the night.
Winner via pinfall: Big Show

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT

Teddy Long introduces Tiffany as a new WWE Diva to the Smackdown brand. Tiffany asks about Mickie James' knee injury, Teddy Long says that she is recovering and that a knee injury is something that will have to take time to heel. Enter Vickie Guerrero. Guerrero is jealous of Tiffany thinking Tiffany is there to take Guerrero's job. Long assures Guerrero that Tiffany is only on Smackdown to compete against the other WWE Divas. Guerrero laughs at the thought of Tiffany competing and puts her in a match against WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool.

The Hart Dynasty stand in the ring awaiting the entrance of Cryme Tyme for their 300th Tag team match.

The Hart Dynasty v. Cryme Tyme

As quickly as this match starts it ends. Tyson Kidd goes to work on JTG's leg, ramming it into the steel post and applying a hard-looking boston leg crab on him. Right when it looks as if JTG may tap out an infamous GONG is heard. The lights turn off. When they turn back on The Undertaker is standing tall in the middle of the ring. He knocks out Kidd and hammers down David Hart Smith. As Shad attends to his tag partner he turns and walks into a chokeslam from the Deadman. Taker follows this up with a Last Ride Powerbomb on Kidd, a Tombstone Piledriver on Smith, and finally a Hells Gate submission on an reeling JTG.

~commercials~

WRESTLEMANIA PROMO: Batista and John Cena followed by a promotion of Monday Night Raw and the Wrestlemania rewind matches lined up for Monday. Also, the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool and her Simply Flawless teammates Vickie Guerrero and Layla make their entrance. Tiffany makes her long awaited in-ring debut to battle the Women's Champion.

Michelle McCool v. Tiffany

Michelle McCool taunts Tiffany once the bell sounds, to which Tiffany doesn't take too lightly. After a bit more of taunting Tiffany finally focuses here anger onto McCool. After a quick beatdown on McCool inside the ring McCool rolls to the outside where it is to her disadvantage as Tiffany follows suit and continues to beat down McCool, this time using the ring mat and the barricade as weapons to wear down McCool. After going all around the ring Guerrero finally had enough and charges at Tiffany tackling her. Simply Flawless begin a 3-on-1 assault onto a helpless Tiffany in the ring until The Glamazon makes the save. She takes out Layla and McCool and clotheslines Guerrero to the mat. Phoenix chases the Diva heels away.
Winner via DQ: Tiffany

Kane makes his way to the ring to battle the First Disciple of the Straightedge Society Luke Gallows

Kane v. Luke Gallows

A throw-away match turns into a hype segment for Wrestlemania. Kane's focus is on Money In The Bank (again) while Luke Gallows is out there to show off his strength. A short match features Kane taking control of most of the match with Gallows getting a good enough amount of offense to show that he is not a weak link in the Straightedge Society. CM Punk has enough and makes his presence felt as he attacks Kane. Punk connects with the GTS on the Big Red Machine. Before Punk can continue the assault, Rey Mysterio makes his way, slowly, to the ring. Punk awaits and is wanting to get his hands on Mysterio just as much as Mysterio to Punk. Punk goes to the outside and Mysterio follows and they begin to throw punches at each other with no end in sight. The referees pull away Mysterio as Punk runs away.

GRAPHIC: Highleet Reel left.

~commercials~

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho presents the Highlight Reel with special guest The Rated R Superstar, Edge. Jericho and Edge talk about their historical Wrestlemania moment.s Jericho talks about how when he battled the likes of Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 19 Edge was at home injured. Also, that at Wrestlemania 20 he was also on the card whereas Edge was still out. Edge reminded Jericho that he lost both times first to Michaels and then to Christian. Edge says the reason he gets injured is because he takes risks at Wrestlemania's. Edge recounted his historic spear on Jeff Hardy and his spear on Mick Foley through a flaming table. Edge says that his risks have taken years off his career but his next Wrestlemania moment will be making Chris Jericho an ex-World Heavyweight Champion. Edge gets the audience involved by having them remind him the name of the move that Edge keeps hitting on Jericho, the spear. As the crowd chants Jericho takes a cheap shot with the mike. Edge regroups and gets the upper hand until Jericho knocks out Edge with the World Heavyweight Championship as Edge tried to hit the spear. Afterwards Jericho gets on the mike and says one word: "Spear!".

End Show.

My Review & Assessment of the 2010 Royal Rumble

ECW CHAMPIONSHIP
Ezekiel Jackson w/William Regal v. Christian (c)

Christian, the longest reigning ECW Champion in the WWE, takes on the man that eliminated 3 former ECW Champions in the Homecoming Battle Royal, Ezekiel Jackson. Mr. Domination has been given the chance to prove himself - as has been the norm at the Royal Rumble (event). Usually it is a great test for stars the WWE is high on and would like to someday make a huge star - yes; Jackson is implied with this statement. (Remember, the owner seems to have a fetish of big strongly built man). This match looked like such a dud on paper and - going back to the Homecoming Battle Royal - it was a shock that CM Punk didn't win and face Christian tonight. Regardless, this match was able to surprise many only because of Christian's ability to carry Jackson in the match. Jackson used his strength and larger size to counteract Christian's quickness; however, that was not enough as in the end it was Christian's ring awareness that allowed him to ram Jackson into the corner and finally hit the Kill Switch for the victory. Heading into the match I assumed Christian would win - my thought process was that William Regal was still being groomed to be the next champion. Regal's quick exit from the match put a hold on those plans. Also, the fact that Regal never got a cheap shot on Christian also gives way to the fact that once this match ends Christian's feud with the Ruthless Roundtable may be done too. Usually Regal would gain some heat leaving Christian wanting to get his hands on him in the future. But with no heat gained, or lost, on Regal's part it looks as if Christian is walking towards Wrestlemania to drop the title to a youngster only to get drafted to Smackdown where he'll be able to move closer to that main event spot.
Winner: Christian

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: CRYME TYME, TEDDY LONG, TIFFANY, GREAT KHALI, and THE MIZ

Cryme Tyme tries to trick The Great Khali to give up his spot in the Rumble match. Teddy Long mentions the infamous coin flip skit from last years Rumble that allowed for JTG to have a breakthrough performance in last years Rumble. Ranji Singh comes to Khali's rescue declining Cryme Tyme’s deal of a kiss from Tiffany for Khali's spot. The Miz joins the segment citing that in five years he'll be remembered as the Royal Rumble winner and all of them would be irrelevant. Teddy Long announces The Miz v. MVP next. What this match proclaims is that the WWE is still very high on both these young men. Even though the MVP-to-Raw experiment seemed to loose steam for a while, his recent program with The Miz has been hot and both men have worked the stick well enough to get people to care for this feud. The Miz gets his PPV rub by defending his championship (take that Morrison marks!).

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: RANDY ORTON & CODY RHODES

Randy Orton seems confident in walking away with the WWE Championship in his match with Sheamus. That all changes when, Cody Rhodes mentions Mr. Hollywood - Ted Dibiase – and that he overheard Dibiase state that he would be facing Orton for the title at Wrestlemania. All this interaction does is tease the Legacy break up.

WWE United States Championship
MVP v. The Miz (c)

The Miz successfully defends the United States Championship over Montel Vontavious Porter - MVP. MVP’s one-on-one opportunity for the championship has finally arrived - thanks to Teddy Long, who still proudly brings with him the Bragging Rights trophy. To begin, The Miz was very methodical about his game plan. He let MVP's emotion get the best of him and this allowed The Miz to slow MVP down. He was precise and calculative. He would take his time to plan out his moves three steps ahead of MVP. The Miz did not have to defeat MVP, MVP had to defeat The Miz. And every time that MVP got the upper hand he would get carried away showboating and not thinking about how he would defeat The Miz. It was because of this that The Miz caught MVP off guard and got a clean victory. It was not cheap nor was it a let down; as both superstars got a nice rub from telling this short, but sweet, story - one that was highlighted by The Miz’s thoughtful planning. The Miz's post match celebration further proved that he wasn't sweating MVP during their match because he was more focused on the bigger picture – The Royal Rumble. This new awareness from The Miz goes to show you how far this young man has come around from his days as a Divas Search Host. MVP knows that he was outsmarted and took out his frustration by taking a cheap shot at The Miz and giving him the Playmaker. After MVP leaves ticked off The Miz goes back to being serious as he, too, knew that his taunting left his guard down.
Winner: The Miz

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: BIG SHOW, CHRIS JERICHO and R-TRUTH

The Miz is getting a boost from having being teamed up with the only man to hold the ECW, WCW, and WWE Championship The Big Show. And this break-up of Jerishow has been handled nicely. Chris Jericho tells Show that he should do the right thing - to which Big Show responds that he is looking out for himself and himself only this time around. R-Truth's new push is definitely off to a good start. First some air time with Jericho on Superstars, then a victory on Smackdown. R-Truth says he'll toss out Jericho if The Big Show doesn't. R-Truth is being given the chance to shine on Smackdown and we'll see if he will be taken far.

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: TED DIBIASE & RANDY ORTON

Ted Dibiase gains an edge over Cody Rhodes when he tells Randy Orton that he overheard Rhodes saying that Rhodes was going to win the Royal Rumble and that Sheamus was going to loose the championship at Wreslemania. Randy Orton is having doubters in his group - or so it seems. Orton leaves determined more than ever.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
RANDY ORTON V. SHEAMUS (c)

Finally Randy Orton gets his chance at the WWE Championship. Now that John Cena is no longer champion and Sheamus has moved on from Cena - for a shot while - people were hoping for Orton to walk out of the Royal Rumble with the WWE Championship. As the two stood face-to-face the crowd in Atlanta was pulling for Randy Orton - as was I. The match began with Sheamus taunting Orton - mocking him more like it. Randy Orton didn't flinch. Randy Orton was focused. Sheamus got the upper hand, however. After the bell, the match eventually spilled outside and Sheamus slammed Orton's left arm onto the steel steps. By attacking Randy Orton's left arm Sheamus had the advantage because Orton was not able to pull off his thrilling RKO finisher. Orton took out Sheamus by attacking his thigh - keeping the big strong man from hitting his deadly bicycle kick. As the referee checked on an ailing Orton Cody Rhodes decided to try and help his fellow Legacy brethren by jumping over the barricade and striking Sheamus as he made his way back into the ring. Unfortunately for Orton, this time the help didn't pan out the way he would have liked. Rhodes blatantly attacked Sheamus in front of the referee's face. The referee questioned Cody's decision to do that - then Randy Orton took down Sheamus with the RKO. The referee DQ'd Randy Orton and awarded the match to Sheamus - still your WWE Champion. What followed was more important, though. With everyone in attendance wanting Orton to hit another RKO on Rhodes, he opted for just a good old school beat down of his brethren. Ted Dibiase - who initially sparked Orton's distrust of Rhodes earlier in the night - came to Cody's rescue. This didn't sit too well with Randy as he beat down Dibiase too. The Legacy pleaded with Randy Orton and Orton finally stopped and looked at what he had done; until he turned around and got wiped out by Sheamus’ bicycle kick. As Sheamus walked out Dibiase focused his eyes on one thing, and it wasn’t Cody Rhodes or Randy Orton; rather, the WWE Championship.
Winner: Sheamus

WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Michelle McCool (c) v. Mickie James

Even though this match was the shortest match on the card it was my favorite match of the night. Why? Well, because I made it on pay-per-view - twice! Anyway, this has been one of the best storylines in the women's division in a while. Michelle McCool plays the blonde-bitch role way too good. Add alongside her Layla - who has been doing a marvelous job in every role the WWE has given her from William Regal to Michelle McCool - and you have two Divas that know how to draw heat. And in the sports entertainment business - those that draw advance (ask The Miz!). The build up to this feud featured tons of vignettes and they told a story about jealousy. Instead of getting a one-on-one match we're succumbed to Michelle McCool drawing heat and jobbing out to Mickie James in twenty seconds (and twenty seconds after that I get on TV). It was a good way to cap-off the feud they had going. Now it makes more sense for Beth Phoenix to get into the title picture as McCool v. Phoenix wouldn't draw as much if Mickie wasn't in there as the defending champion.
Winner: Mickie James - NEW WWE Women's Champion

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Rey Mysterio v. Undertaker (c)

Once Undertaker's gong stroke for the first time Rey Mysterio stood alert. Mysterio was the huge underdog going in - but came out of it as a legitimate challenger to the Undertaker's World Championship. Once the bell rang the Undertaker hunted his smaller foe cornering him and looking to take down the quick superstar. But it was that quickness that Mysterio used to his advantage by dodging the Deadman and striking him quickly with kicks. The Undertaker finally caught Mysterio off guard and launched him over-the-top rope. That seemed to be the trend throughout the match. Every time Mysterio would get the upper hand with his quick strikes and lucha-libre style offense - if you can still call it that - Taker would counter with a huge right hand or a big boot. He even caught Rey in the act of doing a 619, countering it into the set up for the Tombstone. Give Rey credit as he fought out of it busting Taker's nose. Mysterio tried the entire night to out perform the Undertaker - and he did, that just wasn't enough to overpower the Deadman. Finally, after connecting with his second 619 Rey Mysterio was caught in the air on his attempt of the West Coast Pop and powerbombed hard onto the mat by The Undertaker for the pin.
Winner: The Undertaker

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT: KANE, SHAWN MICHAELS, and TRIPLE H

Kane tells Shawn Michaels that his thought process is unhealthy. Kane knows what his brother, The Undertaker, is all about because he is the only man to have faced him twice at Wrestlemania. With that Kane leaves letting the information sink in. Triple H arrives afterwards and confronts his best friend for his actions but Shawn Michaels tells him that Triple H was right in thinking HBK was being unselfish. However, Michaels says that facing The Undertaker was his destiny.

2010 ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH

1. Dolph Ziggler
2. Evan Bourne
I thought the Rumble match would feature two main eventers opening to allow things to start off with a bang. Instead, they started "with two of WWE's young guns," as Michael Cole likes to call them. This early entry makes it official that, even though Dolph Ziggler has the charisma and talent, he will always be Nicky from the Spirit Squad. The two get their 90 seconds to shine as the ‘young guns’ of the WWE until the uncharacteristic #3 entrant makes an impact.

3. CM Punk
Traditionally, the #3 entrant has been given to those superstars with an opening act marquee name. This year the WWE did something different and brought in a guy that everyone had fallen into obscurity after dropping the World title to The Undertaker. But, as soon as that familiar guitar rip hit CM Punk was put into play again. Instantly he hit the ring and disposed of the young stars. He made quick of his opponents and used the time to preach his Straightedge Society. And just like that, CM Punk is back in business. Just as Punk said, "excuse me. It's clobbering time." (Ziggler and Bourne eliminated)

4. JTG
For the second year in a row, we see who the WWE favors from the duo that seem doom to being another good tag team without a Tag Team title victory. JTG still has a bright future and he will shine when Cryme Tyme breaks up. For now, he's still in a tag team so he falls to CM Punk's resurgence into the main event. (JTG eliminated)

5. The Great Khali
The giant was sent out next and CM Punk vowed to make him greater! The Great Khali was in control of CM Punk until he met his match by -

6. Beth Phoenix
- who became the second woman to ever enter the Royal Rumble. And she made sure she turned in a memorable performance. In eliminating The Great Khali Beth Phoenix won over the live audience. She did not, however, let her mind get distracted because she had a goal set and that was to win the Royal Rumble. Punk comes charging at her but Phoenix is able to mount a small amount of offense - and that was enough to make the crowd erupt - before falling prey to the GTS. (Khali eliminated)

7. Zack Ryder
"Oh radio, tell me everything you know!" Ryder is the only victim of CM Punk to not loose any heat during Punk's tirade because Punk told Ryder what he – and my fellow Ryder fanatics – already knew: that, “[Ryder has] potential!”. Ryder was blindsided by Punk’s mike work and was quickly disposed of. During Ryder's time the crowd really got into Punk chanting in favor of the Straightedge Superstar. Punk got back to working the stick claiming that he was better than whoever the next superstar was. (Phoenix and Ryder eliminated)

8. Triple H
As The Game made his way to the ring, Punk looked as if the statement he just made was true. His look went from having fun to being fierce and intense as he stared down The Game. This look alone showed how bad Punk wanted to dispose of Triple H and continue his Straightedge march to Wrestlemania. Punk didn't back down and gave it to Triple H in their 90 second encounter. But he wasn't able to throw him out.

9. Drew McIntyre
As The Game made his way to the ring, oh wait no sorry I meant the guy that looks like Hunter Hearst Helmsly - the Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre! As Drew McIntyre made is slow descent towards the ring Triple H was able to gain the edge over CM Punk. Triple H called for McIntyre to not take his time and McIntyre didn't back down. Drew hit the ring and got taken down by The Game. Punk tried to take advantage of Triple H but he got the GTS countered and Triple H launched him over-the-top. (Punk eliminated)

10. Ted Dibiase
"The Marine!" proclaims Matt Striker, enters the Rumble. His mind may have been elsewhere - Randy Orton perhaps? - but he was quickly awaken with a hard delivered clothesline by Triple H. This was the part of the Rumble where things started to slow down. The WWE let the men that they are planning the future with shine for a few minutes with an in-ring veteran.

11. John Morrison
Add to that future, The Shaman of Sexy. Even though The Miz got the call for a PPV match over Morrison, John Morrison will still be a top star in the WWE. Morrison makes his entrance and gets to interact with Ted Dibiase, another future star, as well as continue his feud with Drew McIntyre.

12. Kane
The WWE next sends out a loyal company man that is satisfied with putting over the younger talent. Kane came in at an opportune time to show his dominance. Though, he did not get a single elimination he made sure people knew he was always a force to be reckoned with in the Rumble match.

13. Cody Rhodes
The perfect time to have distinction between Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase was passed on when Rhodes saved Ted Dibiase from the grips of Kane. Legacy worked together as a team - naturally - and pounced on Kane. Rhodes focused his attention on the other stars, primarily John Morrison. I see Cody Rhodes making his way over to Smackdown after the trade and having some great matches with Morrison - nice tease we had here.

14. MVP
In continuing his feud with The Miz, MVP doesn't make it all the way out as he gets clobbered with the U.S title from behind. MVP gets taken to the back as the stars of tomorrow and the two of today continue to battle it out.

15. Carlito
Matt Striker said it best when this man came out, "very interesting entry here". Carlito has been up and down his entire tenure with the WWE. Sending this guy out at this moment is saying that he's going to be stuck where he's at - a marquee name that won't get over alå Dolph Ziggler. Carlito is being trusted with getting a lot of people over lately, and he's doing a good job of it. He even gave Sheamus a small rub by rooting for him against John Cena.

16. The Miz
Mr. Awesome himself makes his way to the ring. The Miz and MVP were two candidates that needed a strong showing at the Royal Rumble. They both entered the event looking to make a statement as both lasted a combined 5:10 in the match itself. This year was much similar, however, the difference was that both men gained heat in their rivalry allowing the audience to continue to want to see both superstars in action. It is because of their post-match altercation and The Miz's attack on MVP that both men got a huge push this night. Their simultaneous elimination gives MVP the edge in their feud - he drew last blood, if you will. The Miz and MVP's feud is far from over as tonight was just a short detour in where they will be taking both men. Seems that The Miz and Big Show are gearing up for a short stint against MVP and... (Mark Henry perhaps? - we'll see later). (Miz and MVP eliminated)

17. Matt Hardy
The man who last year made one of the best moves of his career - turned on his brother. This year he enters the Rumble match and is disposed of within thirty seconds. Matt needs Jeff, enough said. Kane gets his only elimination in his 12th appearance at the annual event; and, then Triple H sneaks up behind Kane and knocks him out. (Hardy and Kane eliminated)

18. Shawn Michaels
The man that is hell bent on facing The Undertaker in a rematch of last years Mania match makes his entrance in the Rumble - his twelfth, tied with Kane for most Rumble appearances. At this point Carlito is told to hit the showers because he tries to attack someone that's already over - The Heartbreak Kid. Michaels cleans house, taking out: The Legacy and John Morrison. Drew McIntyre receives a slight push in that it required the Unified Tag Team Champions to eliminate the Intercontinental Champion - add to that, the fact that McIntyre was the only one eliminated by two people - it screams volumes as to what the WWE has in store for this (true) young gun. (Carlito, Rhodes, Dibiase, Morrison, and McIntyre eliminated)

19. John Cena
With DX left standing in the ring the logical choice to send out next, was John Cena. Cena has acted as the catalyst in in the DX break-up. Going all the way back to when DX and Cena's triple threat match at Survivor Series was announced. John Cena is the least common factor for DX because all three men are over as huge faces; even though they all want the World Title they will all eventually do whatever it takes. What a better way to show them go at it, again, than in 90 seconds at the Royal Rumble. After a pedigree on John Cena HBK does what no one thought he would do - at least this early in the Rumble - he eliminates Triple H with the Sweet Chin Music. Michaels made it known to Hunter that despite The Game's quest for the championship, Shawn Michaels is going after history at Wrestlemania in wanting to face and defeat The Undertaker. (Triple H eliminated)

20. Shelton Benjamin
As a friend of mine would say, "take that smarks!". Mr. I'll Never Get Passed the Mid Card - Benjamin enters the ring and shows his skills against HBK and John Cena. Smarks loved every minute of it because Shelton can wrestle but he lacks the charisma to be a main eventer. After a short performance John Cena destroys what (little) high hopes Benajamin had and quickly disposes of him to continue to battle Shawn Michaels. (Benjamin eliminated)

21. Yoshi Tatsu
The Japanese sensation was given some huge exposure in the short shift he was given, going at it with the likes of HBK and John Cena. Similarly to Benjamin, though, Tatsu lacks the charisma (and mike skills) needed to be a main star in the company. Tatsu gets his small rub and is tossed out by Cena. (Tatsu eliminated)

22. Big Show
With two top stars in the ring and less than 10 entrants left to enter The Big Show comes out to slow things down. He did run down to the ring quicker than most thought he was able to move, though. Big Show was able to put on his typical giant performance as more meat entered the ring.

23. Mark Henry
The Worlds Strongest Man was sent out to do exactly what Big Show did, slow down the pace. He battled the giant and put some offense in against John Cena and HBK. Nothing special here - Mark Henry will always have a paycheck as long as he can put over talent and slow things down when needed to. Also, this short face-to-face is just a tease in what could be a tag team feud in the making: Miz-Big Show v. MVP-Mark Henry.

24. Chris Masters
Another guy, similar to Carlito in that his future looked bright once upon a time - then he learned how to write a book in 30 days on how to loose weight and was never given the chance to amount to anything again. Masters got his Rumble payday after some offense on HBK. Then he tried to apply the masterlock on The Big Show and paid the price. (Masters eliminated)

25. R-Truth
Truth is finally being given a chance to run with the ball. His rise to the top tier of the Smackdown brand was slowly being written back at Bragging Rights when he was on the winning team. Then, he was teamed with Kofi, Henry, MVP, and Christian at Survivor Series to battle Legacy, Punk and Regal. His short stint with Punk did great for him and a clean victory over Chris Jericho two nights before escalated his stock value. Truth makes a huge impact this night when he takes out the two giant men - ask Shawn Michaels how that worked out for him in 1996! (Show and Henry eliminated).

26. Jack Swagger
A star that is still a bit green but the WWE has been slowly building him up right. His run in ECW was proof that they are high on this talent. Also, his surprise trade to the Raw brand and mike work against Randy Orton was more big time exposure. Sending Swagger out now - this late in the Rumble - was great for the youngster to get a good rub by going up against the guy that the WWE is also high on at the moment from the blue brand - Truth. Look for Jack Thwagger to continue to show off his dominance and move up the company ladder.

27. Kofi Kingston
The way the Royal Rumble has been panning out anyone that lasts for more than two entrants should feel good for themselves because it is saying a lot. However, if you're given the chance to take out two of the stars the WWE is high on at the moment - you should be feeling great about only staying in the Rumble a short amount of time. Kingston cleans house of Swagger and Truth but does so using great athletic ability, which doesn't kill any of the heat that Truth and Swagger gained from their entrance. (Swagger and Truth eliminated)

28. Chris Jericho
The man that earlier in the night said he will main event Wrestlemania makes his way to the ring. With only two more to enter this entry all it does is save Jericho from working a long night and also gives him the chance to be in the final six - which for Jericho means more bragging rights. The one thing that caught me by surprise was that Jericho didn't eliminate Kofi Kingston, instead John Cena FU'd Kofi all the way out. (Kingston eliminated)

29. Edge
The Rated R Superstar makes his long awaited return to the WWE! And is now the favorite to win the Royal Rumble (which I predicted after last years Rumble). Edge makes his way to the ring and quickly spears down everyone. He focuses his attention more on Chris Jericho, the man that's been bad mouthing him all year long. Jericho's short Rumble stint is only consequence, I think, due to his TMZ mugshot because Edge flings Chris Jericho all the way over-the-top and is left wondering what just happened. (Jericho eliminated).

30. Batista
This is the perfect entrance for Batista. Simply because it allows for him to enter the Rumble thinking he'd win it all being how big he is. His new focus on the championship puts his mind at ease seeing as he is only three people away from a main event match at Mania. The opening story of the Rumble was CM Punk and the closing story of the Rumble was Shawn Michaels. Michaels' elimination by the hands - literally- of Batista elevated Batista into the spotlight on the road to Wrestlemania; but now also forces HBK to explain himself to Triple H - not the Undertaker. Batista charges at Cena and is duped out of the ring. The John Cena and Batista stare down at the end of the Rumble gives you an insight at the match that will be one of the main events at the granddaddy-of-them-all! Batista distracted John Cena long enough for Cena to loose focus of the goal at hand and allow Edge, The Ultimate Opportunist, to win the 2010 Royal Rumble. (HBK, Batista, Cena eliminated)
Winner: Edge

The Final Four combatants no one would have predicted going into the Rumble. People would talk about HBK, John Cena, Triple H and anybody from a list of top talent: Kofi Kingston, Ted Dibiase, and CM Punk. No one thought that Batista and Edge would have been the other half of the final four – yes Edge was talked about; but until #29 came out no one thought he would be in the final four.
Many may think that this is a bad idea because the younger talent weren't given the chance to shine - but I rejoice in proving that the young stars were given the chance to show what they got. New stars are not made over night people - Sheamus is not as over as one would like a World Champion to be. This title reign is just his test for the future and he's doing the best he can – which is really good I might add, though he still needs a clean victory over someone. Ted Dibiase got his final four rub last year and he got his main event tease in Randy Orton' match this night. CM Punk was able to preach his way through the Rumble - yes Triple H shut him down but it was Punk's tenacity that outweighed his elimination and gave light upon Punk's reemergence in the WWE. Kofi was the only one that I thought took a step back for me this night because it was John Cena that eliminated him. That can only lead to a match I think, but neither of them are turning heel anytime soon. A John Cena v. Kofi Kingston match in the future - or an altercation at the Elimination Chamber - would cement Kofi in the main event. But still, the fact that Kingston was tossed out with ease by “The Champ” doesn't really sit well with me. I may be reading too much into this – I hope.
All-in-all I thought the Rumble was great - sure it may be a bias opinion because I was there live and got on TV a bunch of times. But, if you really sit back and analyze how the talent was used it shows you what direction the WWE is looking to go. TNA is on the verge of poking their noses where it doesn't belong - Monday nights - and tonight the WWE told everyone that they're ready and are just waiting to pull the trigger on their young talent and decimate TNA. Now all paths lead to Wrestlemania and this year it looks like it'll be one of the best, I’ll post my thoughts on where the WWE seems to be headed going into the Elimination Chamber and what, I think, the Wrestlemania XXVI card will look like this year.

RTC & SES

**Note: This entry stemmed from a response to a Message Board thread entitled "SES's Potential for Greatest Stable Ever? - by The Future"

First, Right To Censor (RTC) was a great stable. Future you said "... to me, a stable is the sum of its parts to make a whole," with that I feel as if Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather were a great enforcer-esque tag team that wanted to also censor their ways of mistreatment of women and their corruption of the law (it's as close a definition you can get to with Bull Buchanan - who really had no other explanation as to why he joined RTC, but he was teamed with Big Bossman so I just ran with it. Anyway,) their wrestling ability and chemistry as a teamed proved them to be worthy as Tag Team Champions and with that it added credibility to RTC's status as a dominant Heel Stable. Every stable needs a mouthpiece, Steven Richards was to RTC that mouthpiece and he is in every way similar to what CM Punk is to the Straight Edge Society - their fearful leader. Later Val Venis censored his womanizing ways and Ivory gave up on giving the fans the T&A the other Divas were. Both the latter members of RTC gave Steven Richards more chance to share the mic as both workers did a great job of helping Richards promote their movement. The titles all - but Stevie - had won put them above stables like 3 Count and The Jung Dragons as a poster mentioned. To me the fact that each and every member had the ability to tell their own wrestling story which led them to winning championships gave the RTC a much higher ranking than most lead to believe - and certainly at this point higher than where the Straight Edge Society is.

After this past Sunday's Royal Rumble performance by CM Punk and his preaching the Straight Edge lifestyle it goes to show that the WWE are really high on how far Punk has taken his new persona to the next level - beard and all. I agree that Knox would be a good fit, however, I too would say that Punk's beard should not be overshadowed by "Fort Knox" (<- good one by the way!). The WWE gave a mass surmount of time to let Punk generate his heat (even though almost everyone live - including me - were chanting "CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK!").

This stable has gotten off on the right foot. The Luke Gallows character is great for the Straight Edge Society because Festus did have a surefire "in" that pushed further the message that Punk is trying to impose on the WWE [Universe]. I am really enjoying seeing Punk get himself over with this angle. I agree that this is the best we've seen Punk since he's joined the WWE - and the reasoning behind this is because CM Punk has character! Before CM Punk was just the "Straight Edge Superstar" doing the good things and waiting to be rewarded. When he cashed in his MITB title shot and beat Jeff Hardy the fans turned on him - he didn't turn on the fans! Because of this CM Punk began to do what he wanted since the WWE fans were no longer backing him (well the marks that is). Punk has now been able to generate heat in the form of working the stick and get himself a good following (Luke Gallows and Serena) that want to help preach the good word and the Straight Edge lifestyle.

It is because of this transformation within CM Punk that the stable has been able to pick up steam and be given the chance to really stand out as being a top heel stable. Like Paul Heyman once said one of the best things the WWE did last year was "put CM Punk in play". CM Punk did fall off track for a while after he dropped the title to Undertaker and disappeared from the main event scene. But, this new life in his character has given him the chance to step up to the plate - with a backing - to prove once again why the Straight Edge Superstar is not one to be taken lightly. I admit at first I was never that big of a CM Punk fan; but, that all changed when CM Punk was given the chance to win the World Championship from Jeff Hardy. Punk's ability to work the mic and work a wrestling match gives him the chance to have a stable that can go far within the company. They're still a long shot from "greatest stable" but do have the capability of surpassing RTC - once they crown themselves with more gold than just a Slammy Award. That is why I'm pulling for the Straight Edge Society to become Tag Team Champions as it would be a great way to further push this really hot heel stable.

My Original Picks

On 11/22/09 the WWE presented Survivor Series, live on pay-per-view for a ridiculous amount of money - my bank statement says so. (I love to make Vince rich!). After John Cena pinned Triple H to retain the WWE Championship, and being stuffed with pizza and soda - because that's what you do when you order WWE from home - I predicted the 30 entrants to the Royal Rumble.

My Original Picks:
The Mi, John Morrison, Jack Swagger, William Regal, MVP, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Finlay, Evan Bourne, The Hurricane, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, R-Truth, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston Reymysterio, Batista, Big Show, Chris Jericho, Chavo Guerrero, Tyson Kid, David Hart Smith, Shawn Michaels, Triple H.

Final (Order of) Entrants:
Dolph Ziggler, Evan Bourne, CM Punk, JTG, The Great Khali, Beth Phoenix, Zack Ryder, Triple H, Drew McIntyre, Ted Dibiase, John Morrison, Kane, Cody Rhodes, MVP, Carlito, The Miz, Matt Hardy, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Shelton Benjamin, Yoshi Tatsu, Big Show, Mark Henry, Chris Masters, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Chris Jericho, Edge, Batista

All-in-all I predicted 21.5/30. The reasoning behind the .5 is simply because Hurricane Helms was to be in the Rumble but due to his arrest he was "given the night off". **Update: Apparently Helms was found with a muscle relaxer in his bag. So, there goes the excuse the WWE is going with as to why Chris Jericho was not taken out of the Rumble - as if they really needed one, it's Chris Jericho for crying out loud** Also to note, William Regal was officially announced per WWE.com; however, he too was not in the Rumble - no explanation found.

I did attend the live event and will now watch the PPV in order to hear the commentary to provide my full analysis. Overall the show was great and the WWE product has been picking up steam - especially now that TNA has decided to go against the WWE on Monday nights. And no ladies and gentlemen, the Monday Night Wars is not beginning again. TNA is simply trying to make a small dent - which if it does it will lead to the potential beginnings of a war. For now, this is merely a small battle.

I will say though that the spot of the night was when Beth Phoenix eliminated The Great Khali.

2010 Royal Rumble

With the ridiculous mass of top talent entering this years Royal Rumble this years Rumble match seems to be the most star-studded ever. And, well we all know that that's a line that is overplayed every year - it only merits mentioning because this year the title fits since the last time we had a plethora of top viable Rumble winner probables was in 2008.

Back in November - literally right after Survivor Series - I instantly made a list of the 30 WWE Superstars I thought would be in the 2010 Royal Rumble. The outcome? I got 23 correct. Those that I thought would be in the Rumble but aren't are: David Hart Smith, Tyson Kid, William Regal, Sheamus, Vance Archer, Rey Mysterio, Ezekiel Jackson. Since John Cena was champion at the time I thought he'd be defending the title and not in the Rumble.

Let's look at the hierarchy of talent officially announced into this year's Royal Rumble ...remember, there's still 2 spots open as only 28 have been announced*.

Main Eventers: Batista, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Triple H, Shawn Michaels -- 5
Upper Mid Carders: Kane, Big Show, CM Punk - 3
Midcarders: Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Drew McIntyre, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Ted Dibiase, Matt Hardy, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, The Miz, Finlay, Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, Carlito -- 16
Low Carders: Vladimir Koslov, Santino Marella, Yoshi Tatsu, Evan Bourne, -- 4

Anyone of those 16 mid Carders are ready to be pushed to the next level and a huge victory at the Royal Rumble would elevate them to the main event spot at Wrestle Mania. But, then again there are the top dogs - the Main Eventers - all who are claiming victory. The only one that has yet to win a Rumble is the man that is "the best at what [he does]," Chris Jericho. Jericho is in the right position out of everyone to walk out as the Rumble victor. He is the only Smackdown guy that can win it for the brand as I really do not see Batista walking out as the #1 contender. Batista seems primed for a rematch against Rey Mysterio at Wrestle Mania. CM Punk has been dropped from his status as top star after getting teamed with Luke Gallows. And well, Kane looks to be a shoe in for the Money In The Bank match yet again.

With that said I took a shot at possible order of entry for this year's Royal Rumble match. Again, with such a star studded Rumble it only makes sense to start the event with a bang alá 2008 when Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were the first two competitors. From there things would get a bit slower bringing in some of the younger talent that's looking to make a name for themselves. Also, mixing in some talent that are still green but are shining.

3 Vladimir Koslov
4 Cody Rhodes
5 Zack Ryder
